USE AI TO CREATE A COURSE

How to use AI to turn your experience into a course.

AI can’t give you thirty years of experience. It can help you get yours out of your head and into a course much faster.

THE SHORT ANSWER

To use AI to build a course from your experience, have an assistant like Claude interview you about your expertise, then ask it to organize your answers into a course outline, lesson plans, scripts, worksheets and quiz questions. Review and rewrite everything in your own words, add your stories, and test the first lessons with real students.

WHY YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS

AI knows a lot. It hasn’t lived your life.

The hardest part of making a course is usually not the knowledge. It’s turning a lifetime of experience into an organized sequence of lessons. That’s exactly the kind of work AI assistants are good at.

Used well, AI is a patient interviewer and a fast first-draft writer. It asks you questions, sorts your answers, suggests an order and drafts the materials, so you can spend your time on judgment and stories.

Used badly, it produces generic content anyone could have written. The difference is you: what you know, the examples you’ve lived and the mistakes you’ve made.

QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK

Questions people ask.

Will an AI-assisted course feel generic?

Not if you use AI for structure and drafts and supply the stories, examples and judgment yourself. Your experience is what makes it worth buying.

Which AI assistant should I use?

Any capable assistant can help. We use Claude for interviewing, outlining and drafting, but others work as well.

Can AI write the whole course for me?

It can draft a lot, but you should review, correct and rewrite everything. You’re responsible for accuracy and for sounding like you.

Is it okay to use AI-written material in a paid course?

Generally yes, as long as the content is accurate and yours to sell. Be thoughtful about sources and check the platform’s rules.

How long does it take to build a course with AI help?

A short course can come together in weeks rather than months, especially if you test it live first.
